Kent Churches Sponsored Ride & Stride Day was a great success this year. Half the money raised will go to the church, the remaining half to a fund administered by F.K.C. The fund is distributed in grants for repairs and renovations to Kentish Churches of historical interest or architectural merit.
For the striders, we reversed the route of last year’s event which meant we started in Folkestone, walking to the selected churches via the Harbour Arm and continuing to St Paul’s Sandgate, then after a lunch break caught the bus to Hythe where we visited five churches, then walked back to Saltwood finishing with afternoon tea. We also arranged a shorter walk for families with children this year, starting at Saltwood church and visiting five Hythe churches before returning to Saltwood, finishing at lunch time with a picnic/barbeque at the Lads’ Club. We arranged a treasure hunt for the route and at each church sang a song! We had many past pupils of Saltwood School, now mothers, taking part with their children.
In addition, we had two joggers, jogging from the Leas, Folkestone back to Saltwood church and cyclists visiting a number of Romney Marsh churches. A good time was had by all.
Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make this such a wonderful day for everyone!
