During 2013 the church gave charities and missions a total sum amounting to £13,311. The PCC continued its policy of giving £500 to 12 charities and missions, home and abroad, six for the relief of human suffering and six for those spreading the gospel. One of these missions will be the “Mission of the Month’, with an article in our parish magazine and a focus for prayer.
In addition to this giving, £250 was given to the Phillipines Cyclone Relief Fund, the Harvest Festival collection of £256 to the Folkestone Rainbow Centre, the Remembrance Sunday collection of £310 to to the Royal British Legion, and the All Souls collection of £158 to Pilgrims Hospices.
Furthermore, direct giving from organised events for specific charities, the Christian Aid house-to-house collection amounted to £2,591, and the Children’s Society collection boxes totalled £471. The Saltwood Sleep Out for the Folkestone Winter Shelter project raised £3,275.
