Improvements

Heating

The proposed new heating will be under-floor heating pipes, supplied by a low-energy boiler in the cellar, similar to that used in many domestic dwellings. This could be electric, gas, oil or a heat-pump.

This system will provide a comfortable, even warmth where it is needed. It will be economical and allow the building to be used more often.

Audio System

A specifically designed sound system, incorporating a hearing loop that transmits to hearing aids, will be installed.

This will allow everyone in the congregation to hear everything in the services.

With a sound system, the church could be used for many more events organised by the community.

Repairs & Decoration

During this time of improvement, all necessary repairs will be addressed. The fabric of the building will not be allowed to deteriorate any further. Finally, there will be the re-decoration.

Vestry & Kitchen

The existing vestry and kitchen area will be re-shaped into a kitchen and storage area. An inside toilet will also be incorporated, making life easier for everyone.

With the kitchen and toilet accommodated at the west end of the north aisle, a new devotional vestry will be formed at the east end of the north aisle.

A purpose-made screen would be used to create the vestry, allowing the minister to prepare for services in the right environment. The windows would remain visible to all.

Lighting

A new, purpose designed, lighting system, using low energy, long life bulbs, will be devised and installed to accentuate the architecture and provide the correct lighting levels.

Stained Glass

The repair and cleaning of the windows will be carried out by specialists.
